Organizational computing is an emerging field of study, the development of which will have profound socioeconomic implications for organizations and individuals in the coming years. Currently, it is an ill-structured field crisscrossed by various streams of research. Frameworks previously advanced to help characterize the field and foster its further study have been developed primarily from a technological perspective. Such frameworks are reviewed and an argument is presented for the creation of organizational computingframeworks within the complementary organizational perspective. Desirable traits of such frameworks are identified as a basis for stimulating their creation. for information about other issues of the journal, the editorial board, additional abstracts, sample copies, subscriptions, etc.
